Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials crafted to cover the front of your teeth to improve the appearance of your smile. Veneers change the color, shape, size, or length of your teeth. They are made of high-quality porcelain that is matched to your ideal tooth color for a beautiful, natural-looking effect.
Our dentist can place porcelain veneers on many teeth at once if necessary, or on just one tooth is you are interested in simply fixing a minor smile imperfection. The first step in the veneer process is to have a consultation with Dr. Scott G. Lamming. As we discuss your smile goals, he will examine your teeth to make sure that veneers are appropriate for you. Our dentist will then remove about ½ millimeter of enamel from the tooth surface to allow room for the veneer. A mold is made of the tooth for the construction of the veneer. Once the veneer has been made, our dentist will test the veneer for size and color. Any excess material is trimmed off until it fits properly. Your tooth will be cleaned, polished, and gently roughened to improve the bonding process. A special cement and light is then used to bond the veneer in place.
If you have any of the following smile issues, Dr. Scott G. Lamming may recommend porcelain dental veneers in San Juan Capistrano, California:
- Discolored teeth
- Worn teeth
- Chipped or broken teeth
- Misaligned or uneven teeth
- Irregularly shaped teeth
